January-February Exhibit
Then and Now - the 60s to 2011

Ann Ragland has been interested in various forms of art all her life. She studied commercial art at American River College, Los Angeles Community College, nd Glendale College. By the late 1980s, she was painting on silk after many years of training and experience in batik.
For Ann, the most enjoyable part of creating her art is the process itself. In particular, she loves to watch the dye move on the silk as she creates batik designs. She notes that painting on canvas is easier because it is simpler to make changes. Unique application of color seems to set her work apart from other artists, and not many others create landscapes on silk. To all artists, Ann advises trying different techniques. She continues to teach art through Adult Education offered by San Juan Unified School District and other workshops. You may review her teaching schedule at annraglandbowns.com.
You may meet Ann Saturday January 14, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Gathering Place.
Samples of Ann's work are shown below.

Worship Banners: I am the Vine - Ye Are the Branches

In September, 2004, a simple request blossomed into two spectacular quilt banners for hanging in the Sanctuary during the "Ordinary Time" liturgical season. Fifteen women began working on the design and making the leaves. The spectacular results are shown below.
